Taking Meeting Minutes (pdf)
Although this presentation was created for our Leadership Development Recording Secretary's workshop, you will find this information helpful for taking minutes at any type of meeting whether it be for your office, or IAAP. This presentation covers meeting minute content, structure, approval, the do's and don'ts, and provides a list of resources.
Creating a Student Chapter (pdf)
This presentation addresses how to create a student chapter. It also has information about the Chapter Mentor program. This presentation was developed by the California Division for use at the California Business Educators Association (CBEA) event in 2002. Since then, the presentation has been modified and is ready for use as is at an informational meeting, or it can be tailored to fit your needs.
Parliamentary Procedure
RobertsRulesMadeSimple.com
This resource was created by Susan Leahy, our recent IAAP Annual Education Forum kickoff speaker! Susan makes learning Robert's Rules of Order easy, fast, and even fun!
Presentation on Parliamentary Procedure (pdf)
"All members are equal and their rights are equal, too." Parliamentary Procedure enables you to expedite the flow of business at your meetings. It offers flexibility and fairness as it allows everyone to be heard and to make decisions.
Rulesonline.com
It is Roberts Rules of Order 4th Edition (1915) online and is very good, although it is not the most current. It contains indices, tables and full text of the 4th edition. It also has links to other parliamentary procedure websites and resources. The Fourth edition can serve as a useful reference tool; but final decisions should be based on the current edition (10th Edition); it contains information and details not available in the Fourth Edition.
Parlipro.org
This site has a good reference/table for ranking and precedence of motions and provides references to the 10th Edition. It also has monthly mind bender questions on parliamentary procedure. Check out the one for March! This is a general membership dilemma re president's bias.
