Thank you to everyone who attended the 35th annual MCS Professional Development Day on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Irvine, whether as an exhibitor or participant.

We began the day with a Continental breakfast and internationally acclaimed speaker, W. Mitchell, who, through his story, showed us “It’s Not What Happens To You, It’s What You Do About It.” Attendees’ comments included: “he was fantastic; thank you for inviting him”; awesome, inspiring”; “what a remarkable story; I was so blessed to be able to share his story and how his principles of living forward versus backward are the way to go”; “exceeded my expectations.”

Twenty exhibitors ranging from office suppliers, hotels, staffing services, corporate gifts, travel companies, jewelry, and other items provided attendees with opportunities to see new products and services and to purchase items for themselves or begin their holiday shopping. Our clothing collection to benefit Women Helping Women/Men2Work was so successful, and the testimonial provided by one of the past benefactors was touching. We are hoping to collect clothing again at next year’s event, so let’s remember to save business attire for this worthy organization.

Todd Hunt followed lunch. His “Communication Bleeps and Blunders in Business” made us laugh while understanding some of the miscommunication that happens every day in business and our lives. Attendee comments included: “entertaining, great, excellent, enjoyable”; “loved the humor”; “very fun and real, practical advice”; “comical and good information about communication.”
