INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT'S COMMUNICATION

May 1, 2009

May is significant. Family birthdays and anniversaries, my mom’s wedding (yup, this month) and the one-year anniversary of chemo treatments. May is significant for another reason: the end of the IAAP year is just around the corner. But don't relax quite yet because we still have lot of activity going on, some that provides the platform for the future and some that will be completed soon.

Board members are attending division annual meetings from coast-to-coast to present the International Update and talk about what’s been accomplished and where we’re headed.

The full transition to the new web community <http://community.iaap-hq.org/> occurs at the end of May. Web leaders need to ensure they've moved resources onto the new site.
Members must complete the Member of Excellence <http://pathways.iaap-hq.org/IAAPHQ/Pathways/MemberofExcellence/Default.aspx> online submission form by June 30, 2009 and chapters <http://pathways.iaap-hq.org/IAAPHQ/Pathways/ChapterofExcellence/Default.aspx> and divisions <http://pathways.iaap-hq.org/IAAPHQ/Pathways/DivisionofExcellence/Default.aspx> must complete their respective online submission forms by July 10, 2009.

Change is never easy, and sometimes people just prefer the status quo because it feels easier. I challenge you to remain mission focused. I challenge you to carefully consider the Board’s position paper <http://community.iaap-hq.org/IAAPHQ/IAAPHQ/Resources/ViewDocument/Default.aspx?DocumentKey=c99039ce-683f-4df6-b1ae-80692a92715d> on the proposed dues increase before making a decision. Keep your eyes on the horizon as we continue to build excellence in action.
